Our complaints procedure
This guidance note provides you with more information about our firm’s complaints procedure. This guidance applies only to our clients. If you are not a client and wish to complain about something, please contact us on 0203 830 3831.
At Elaahi & Co Solicitors, we are committed to providing high quality legal advice and client care to our clients. However, if at any point you become unhappy or concerned about the service we are providing, please inform us immediately so that we can do our best to resolve the problem.
In the first instance it may be helpful to contact the person who is handling your matter. If you still have queries or concerns, please contact Anosha Saleem who is our head of practice to whom any final issues can be reported.
Formal complaint procedure
The following outlines our recommended procedure for making a formal complaint. Please note that making a complaint will never affect how we handle your case.
- A formal complaint should be addressed to our head of practice Anosha Saleem in writing at 210 Coppergate House 10 White’s Row, Spitalfields, London, E1 7NF or by email anosha@elaahiandco.com. Please set out the details of the complaint as fully as possible.
- We will acknowledge your complaint within 7 working days of receipt.
- Our head of practice will show your complaint to the person responsible for your matter and ask them to conduct a complete review of the file and to respond in writing. They will also interview any members of staff involved in your matter.
- You will receive a written response to your complaint within 21 days from the date the complaint is first received. This response will set out the result of our investigation, any proposed resolution and, if relevant, any procedural changes we will make to ensure the situation does not arise again.
- In the event that you are not satisfied with the outcome of the complaint we will refer you to the appropriate authority should you wish to take the matter further.
Taking the complaint further
We are regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and complaints and redress mechanisms are provided through them and the Legal Ombudsman.
If we are unable to resolve any such concerns to your satisfaction you are entitled to make a complaint to the Legal Ombudsman – Legal Ombudsman – P.O. Box 6806 Wolverhampton WV1 9WJ.
The Legal Ombudsman investigates complaints about service issues with lawyers. Normally, you will need to bring a complaint to the Legal Ombudsman within six months of receiving a final written response from us about your complaint.
The Solicitors Regulation Authority can assist if you are concerned about our behaviour and you can raise concerns at the SRA website.
Complaints about a client’s rights under the General Data Protection Regulations must be submitted to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
Any disputes or legal issue arising from our Client Care and Terms of Business will be determined by the law of England & Wales and considered exclusively by the English & Welsh courts.

We may use your personal information in order to give you legal advice, or in connection with legal proceedings or legal advice to third parties, or for our legitimate interests as firm of solicitors. We will use personal information only for the purposes that the information was collected, or to provide information about a similar purpose. Information about children will only be collected and stored with permission. Your information will be held securely and safeguarded against unauthorised use, disclosure, alteration or destruction. All those who work at Elaahi & Co are subject to strict confidentiality rules and our privacy policies. Your data will usually be kept for 7 years after we stop providing a service to you, or 7 years after the last payment or date of writing off costs, or 7 years after children reach 18. We do not use automated decision making in processing your personal information.
Whether there are other recipients of your personal information
We may need to send your personal information to other people in connection with representing you in legal proceedings, or in connection with giving legal advice, or for our legitimate interests, or where there are other lawful reasons to do so. For instance, we may disclose information to medical experts, translators, barristers, judges, opponents in legal proceedings or IT advisors. If we disclose your information as our client, we will explain to you what steps we are taking and to whom we are sending any of your information and we will respect professional rules of confidentiality and legal professional privilege.
Whether we intend to transfer your personal information to another country
We may on occasion transfer your data to a country outside the EEA for purposes connected with giving legal advice, or in pursuit of our legitimate interests as a firm of solicitors.
